Arizona utility regulators approved new clean-energy rules on Friday that will require electric companies to provide 100% carbon-free energy by 2050, with interim benchmarks between now and then.
Puget Sound Energy has canceled the sale of Colstrip Unit 4 shares to NorthWestern Energy and Talen Energy.
Once final, the bipartisan package will require utilities to be 100 percent carbon-free by 2050 and meet benchmarks along the way. These benchmarks ensure utilities cannot shelve their clean energy plans for decades before putting them into action.
